In today's business world, most organisations recognise the benefits - and even necessity - of electronic document management systems.
This is certainly true of Anglesey Aluminium.
The company decided to scan 27,000 master drawings stored on drawing hangers and in plan chests.
With a long and impressive list of satisfied drawing scanning clients KDH were chosen to provide the service to scan and index these drawings.
During the scanning process Anglesey Aluminium found the scanned drawings sometimes gave superior image quality to their old system of microfilming drawings.
Also KDH's careful management of the scanning process could often restore old dark and poor quality drawings.
One particular microfilmed drawing, where the original master drawing had been misfiled, was of very poor quality. Unable to locate the original, Anglesey Aluminium were about to commission a new survey at a cost of several £1,000s.
During the scanning process the original drawing was found, scanned and accurately filed. This drawing was perfectly useable saving the company the entire re-survey fee.
As a result of scanning and electronically storing these 27,000 drawings, a 150 sq m room was reclaimed and is now used as a training room.
“The scanning was delivered to agreed timescales and we are extremely satisfied with the results. The quality and commitment demonstrated by KDH to ensure the success of the project was highly commendableâ€
